HR & the Hispanic/Latino Associate Seminar
The Institute for Global Enterprise in Indiana hosted two sessions of its first independent seminar entitled HR & the Hispanic/Latino Associate on March 24, 2006.
Facilitated by Dr. Glenn Rodriguez, the morning seminar provided an introduction to employment challenges of a majority Spanish-speaking population and identified the key issues surrounding the changing personnel demographics as it related to the influx of local Latino workers. The audience consisted of Tri-State human resources executives, educators, and general business professionals, all of whom gained solution-oriented strategies to apply within their respective fields and places of employment. A sample of companies and organizations in attendance included: Casino Aztar, Integra Bank, Whirlpool, EVSC, TJ Maxx, Jasper Engines & Transmissions, City of Evansville, Audubon Metals LLC, Anchor Industries, and Uniseal, Inc.
The afternoon session of the seminar encompassed a financial-industry focus designed specifically for Old National Bancorp. Approximately 60 employees of the company’s human resources, diversity training, and work life development departments attended and several individuals participated via teleconference. Dr. Rodriguez highlighted current banking statistics of the local Spanish-speaking population and demonstrated targets in which Old National Bancorp can improve their consumer and financial products related to general banking services, employee/manager relations, home-buying education, and loan processes.
