2007 NASBITE International Conference - Vancouver
The Institute for Global Enterprise in Indiana recently crossed the border with its Executive Education initiative. The Institute’s Senior Associate Director, Ms. LaShone Gibson, earned an invitation to present two seminars at the 20th Annual NASBITE International Conference in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
Ms. Gibson partnered with Mr. Dusan Marinkovic, International Trade Specialist – U.S. Commercial Service Export Assistance Center to deliver “China IPR: Combined Initiatives for Protection Abroad.” This seminar focused on specific intellectual property rights protection methods for U.S. companies doing business in China or contemplating entry to the China market. The session also highlighted the U.S. Department of Commerce resources available to domestic companies and provided a “how-to” guide for constructing a China IPR Seminar for executives of small to medium sized enterprises.
For the second seminar, “Local Partnerships for Global Business Success,” Ms. Gibson teamed up with Mr. Marinkovic and Institute Advisory Board Member Ms. Kim Humphrey – Vice President of International Banking at Old National Bank. Participants of this workshop learned how to assemble and maintain effective and sustainable academia-industry partnerships. Additional take away value included techniques to employ such alliances within the context of international business education initiatives for the campus and corporate communities.

Partnerships in International Trade served as the theme of the 2007 NASBITE International conference, an organization which services the global business community with opportunities to obtain professional certifications and up-to-date information on best practices within international business education. Conference attendees included international business executives, professors, international trade specialists, economic development agency representatives, customs brokers and other professionals interested in international business programmatic activities. |
